Sad to have to say that this may have been the last CTMP show, a least in this formation anyways. So anyways I shot these guys and also added a couple of Shyojo Skip, and the after party. Another fun night in a darkened basement full of noisy rock people..

Yoyogi Park Rave: On...
The yoyogi park rave was alive last night with pumping beats and party people everywhere. This was most certainly the best one I've been to in a long while, and the dude in the suit who's set just kept going and going was so awesome that I'm not even gonna try and describe it in words.

Yoyogi rave party: Shut down by police!
It wasn't a very happy Sunday afternoon for doofers that didn't go to Nagisa, as the police in Yoyogi park area of Shibuya decided to clamp down on the bands and Dj's that provide weekly free entertainment for so many people that enjoy hanging out down there. I knew this rave had started early as I could hear the bass pounding all the way across the street at the Kyushu festival, but the beats were short lived as the the boys in blue decided that this sunny Sunday afternoon dance party was not to be. In the end, frustrated partygoers moved on to Ueno park.
All the pleading in the world wasn't gonna get those beats started up again..

Kyushu Festival '08
On a much smaller scale than any of the international summer festivals held here at Yoyogi park, the Hokkaido and Kyushu festivals over the last couple of weeks did nothing if not hold their own. Okay so enka is definitely not my thing, and I must admit to being a bit taiko'd out by this stage of each year, but I really enjoyed both of these weekends, eating and drinking my way through the days.
As I looked at these pictures again last night, I remembered a couple that I spoke to on the Sunday sitting at one of the many tables provided. They were an older couple from Fukushima, had had a few, and in our conversation disclosed that I was the first foreigner they had ever spoken to..

The Shirts live at Gamuso: Revolutionary
The Shirts are back in the studio working up new songs and trying to work out if we sound better sober. This live version of Scott's anarchist anthem "Revolutionary" is from our show with Come to my Party and Dan Jury a couple of months back at Gamuso in Asagaya, another beer soaked Valentine Records event..

Street Walking..
Shibuya supposedly doesn't have street walkers, but there are enough girls walking to and from the small fuzokuten to the nearby hotels to safely assume that the cover of night doesn't always betray the the purpose of the ladies within it. Recently I've seen a couple of attempted pick ups, from guys that would usually get the old 'I'm calling my boyfriend on my keitai' brush off, and they seemed to be able to open up a dialogue pretty well on the backstreets of Dogenzaka...

Bar Bourbon Street..
While stumbling back towards 246 and an impending taxi ride home after the bloggers dinner last week, I took it upon myself to seize the moment and go visit my buddy Pedro at the bar he manages, Bar Bourbon Street. Pedro, while being totally surprised to actually see me walk through the door, reveled in giving me the grand tour of his fine little establishment, and while top shelf liquor all looks the same to me, I found it pretty impressive! I also lucked out in that I was able to catch Steve Gardner finishing off his set of fine Mississippi style blues..

Japan Mirai..
Went to a dinner/get together with a heap of noteable Japan Bloggers and IT types last week on the invitation of Danny Choo. Caught up with Neil Duckett and Ken Lee on the way, but once there I kinda got lost in the crowd. The evening was pretty interesting in that I got to put some faces to names, and learn a bit more about what the blogging community here is all about. Of course I felt quite out of my league, as my little blog does nowhere near the numbers of most of the other attendees, but the beer flowed as freely as the presentations and a good night was had by all..
Danny delivering his welcome address.
Lee from the Tokyo Times talking about his blog, his photos are amazing..
